We started with make up. The make up artist gently removed my make up and got started working her magic. I am not great with make up, so I tend to ask a lot of questions when I have a professional within ear shot. She was fantastic and explained what she was doing at every step of the way. She also asked me what I wanted, and I ended up with a flawless finish and a golden shadow on my eyes. She was also great with product recommendations for my skin. We finished up with a glossy lip, and I was ready to move onto hair.
I’m no stranger to the blow out. I am actually a big fan of blow outs. My hair is long and washing and drying this head of hair is a big job. Anytime I can pass the task onto someone else and relax with a book and my Instagram feed, I am a happy camper. In my former life (when I lived abroad), I had a blow out each Friday and it was something I looked forward to every week. In my current life, that is not a reality (from a cost and time perspective), so I usually treat myself to one when I have a special event.
The blow out at goldplaited was great. We started by glancing at a lookbook for different style. I asked for some movement on the bottom and a little volume on the crown. She washed my hair and treated me to a scalp massage while the conditioner was on (that itself is worth its weight in gold). We then moved to the stylist’s chair and got to work.
Soon enough, I was finished. I felt like a million bucks and I had such a enjoyable afternoon in the salon with Mal and the girls learning about the concept. The business was started by sisters from LA that loved the “getting ready” process and wanted to create a hybrid between a blow out bar and make up studio. I have a lot of excitement for entrepreneurial endeavors and I cannot wait to see these two ladies shake up the scene here in Chicago.
Murphy’s Law: Get a blow out and the weather wants to rain on your parade.
