The outpouring of love from my friends, family, and co-workers was amazing. So many people were praying for me and sending positivity my way.
I also want to give a shout out to nurses. I have a whole new respect for the profession. I have nothing to compare it with, but Northwestern Hospital deserves a gold star. Everyone I interacted with, from doctors and nurses, to lab tech and cleaning staff were just the best.
Okay, moving on….
After my kidney biopsy, I had to stay 24 hours in the hospital (8 of which I had to be dead flat on my back and I refused to use a bed pan and held my pee) and then I was eligible to be released. The last couple hours in the hospital, I was so happy to grateful to be getting out (so happy I took a selfie).
Taking off that dreadful gown was also a highlight. I’m fairly certain that most of the floor got a couple glimpses of my undies during my extended stay…
No more hospital gown, no more wheeling my machine to the bathroom with me, and no more showering with a glove over my IV.
Being at home never felt so good!
(This happened in July. The delay is because I wasn’t sure I wanted to share, especially if the results from my kidney biopsy indicated something serious. The good news is that my results turned up clear and I have had several follow up appointments that indicate that my kidneys are fine. That means we are still trying to figure out what caused this incident, but the important thing is that I’m back to my normal, healthy self)
